The Phoenix Valley revealed some of its farming secrets to our three-member team of journalism students. We had to look closely, because the average farm in the valley has shrunk lots in the last several decades. Currently in Maricopa County, about 1,500 farms take up less than 10 acres per farm.
The entire project covered almost two months, and visited farms across the valley. We talked with farmers, farmers market organizers, and Farm Bureau members, read lots, took pictures, and shot lots of video.
